In the monthly distribution for Android, which showcases the numbers per Android versions out there in the wild, the August numbers actually have quite the surprise in store. Of course, Android 4.4 KitKat’s growth should be expected, even as we near the launch of a new version of Google’s mobile operating system.
Google officially updated their Android distribution numbers on August 12, and it covers a period of time of 7 days, ending on August 12. As usual, any version of Android with a distribution of 0.1% is not shown on the graph.
The graph shows that Android 4.4 KitKat has a three percent increase from last month, now with 20.9 percent out there in the wild. Android 4.1 through 4.3 Jelly Bean, though, dropped to a 54.2 percent. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? That’s set at 10.6%.
The surprise comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which actually grew from 13.5 percent to 13.6%. Not a huge jump, but it’s certainly right there on the graph.
To round it out, Android 2.2 Froyo is holding tight at 0.7 percent.
