Google’s monthly Android version breakdown for the period ending April 7 is now available, and things are looking good for the company’s latest and sweetest flavour of Android.
Android 5.0 and Android 5.1 Lollipop together were running on 5.4 percent of the devices that accessed the Google Play Store during the first week of April. Since Android 5.1 bumps the API level to 22, Google has shown its user base separately, which clocks in at 0.4%. However, once you consider that the OS was only released in March, 0.4% turns out to be a pretty impressive figure.
When compared to last month numbers (3.35%), Lollipop’s user base increased by nearly 2% which is pretty impressive. Additionally, the numbers also reveal that Android 4.4 KitKat became the most popular version of Android out there eclipsing the combined share of Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean (41.4% vs. 40.7%).
