In 2014, Google unveiled its in-car system, which it called Android Auto. It has quietly gone back into the shadows, so to speak, since then, but it looks like Google’s ready to get attention for it all over again.
Today, Google unleashed the official Android Auto app into the Google Play Store as a free download. It’s available for devices that are running Android 5.0 or higher only, and if you don’t have an in-car system that supports Android Auto it’s effectively useless, but at least the app is finally here.
Auto manufacturers have already said that they will launch vehicles with support for Android Auto, and many third-party companies that build in-car systems are working on support as well, so it’s certainly a market that will grow in time. In fact, Pioneer recently launched some head units with support for Android Auto, so the app’s arrival is certainly good timing.
It’s a free download and it’s available through the link below if you want to get it downloaded. Are you looking forward to Android Auto?
