Samsung recently announced the beginning of the global rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for its devices, with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge the first in line for the major update. In less than a week, the company has started pushing the update to the Galaxy Note 5, which is a good sign it will be moving a bit faster with updates this year.
Cambodia is the first market to get Marshmallow on the Galaxy Note 5; the Android version is 6.0.1, and the build number is N920CXXU2BPB6. There is no word on the OTA version of the update, though SamMobile reports that it is available through Samsung’s Smart Switch software. In terms of the changelog, the device should get all the major features of Marshmallow, including Google Now on Tap, advanced app permissions, and Doze. A new version of Samsung’s browser app is also on-board.
These updates go out in phases, so it should be a few days before Android 6.0 for the Note 5 reaches other regions. It shouldn’t take that long though, thanks to the fact that the metal and glass Note was not as widely launched as the Galaxy S6 edge+. Speaking of the S6 edge+, the 5.7-inch Edge smartphone is likely to be the next device to get Marshmallow in Samsung’s lineup.
