Two days ago, the Nexus 9 began receiving the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop over the air (OTA) update, much to the chagrin of Nexus 9 owners everywhere.

While it wasn’t the Android 5.1 update owners were expecting (that would actually begin arriving today), many owners began downloading the new software anyway. And, to make matters worse, the update apparently started bricking some owners’ devices. Or, for others, not installing at all, no matter how many times they tried.

Citing several different owner complaints, Android Police, says the update is indeed bricking some of the tablet models, while other units are simply not able to install the update at all. Many complaints are meant with simple fixes like, “factory reset while in recovery mode,” but owners are saying that the fix is not actually fixing anything.

It’s an unfortunate situation, to be sure, but for those that don’t have a bricked tablet, the Android 5.1 update is now being released, so that’s something to look forward to at least.
