Google has now fear of updating their platform whenever they see fit, and since they have the means to issue updates at a rapid pace when they believe they need to, we get situations like we see today. It hasn’t been long since Android 4.4.3 was released, but here we are looking at Android 4.4.4.
Google has officially published the factory images and binaries for several Nexus-branded devices, all showcasing an update to Android 4.4.4. The devices that are listed are the usual suspects, including the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, both Wi-Fi models for the Nexus 7 released in 2012 and 2013, and the cellular-enabled Nexus 7 from 2012 as well. The Nexus 10 is thrown in for good measure. The build number is marked at KTU84P.
While the listing of the factory images and binaries doesn’t necessarily mean an update is right around the corner, in this particular case it does, as Sprint has confirmed an update for their Nexus 5 to build KTU84P, beginning June 19. So, it looks like the Android 4.4.4 update could be landing on the other Nexus devices soon enough.
