Earlier today, The Verge had reported that Google will soon start rolling out the Android 4.4.1 update for the Nexus 5 that will greatly improve the camera performance of the device. Well, the update has landed sooner than one expected with Nexus 5 owners over the world, already getting the OTA update notification on their device. 

Google also announced via its official Nexus page on Google+ that it is rolling out the Android 4.4.1 update for the Nexus 5.

All of this gets a boost with an update to Android 4.4.1 rolling out today to Nexus 5.It improves the camera with faster focusing, especially in low light, faster white balancing, for truer colors, the ability to pinch-zoom the viewfinder in HDR+ mode and less shutter lag.

The update is also rolling out to the other Nexus devices including the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. Whether the update brings any other visible changes or bug fixes is not yet known though.

Google has also pushed Android 4.4.1 to AOSP, allowing custom ROM developers to update their ROM to the latest version of KitKat.

Update: The update is now rolling out for the LTE and Wi-Fi edition of the Nexus 7 as well.
