Remember yesterday, when I reported that Android 4.3 was starting to get pushed out to owners of the HTC One in Taiwan? Like clockwork, it looks like that same update is now coming to the HTC One Developer Edition and, according to people hanging out in the Android Central online forums, some international One units as well.

What does the 565 MB update get you? I’m sorry to say this, but not much other than Android 4.3 itself. The changelog says “Sense Enhancements”, but HTC doesn’t really detail what that means. From the handful of hours folks have spent hunting for new features, it looks like you’ll be able to put some custom music in your video highlights, but other than that … nada.

Why is HTC pushing this out now instead of waiting to finish Sense 5.5? Good question, and one I think can be answered by simply pointing to HTC’s main customer base. If you own an HTC phone, chances are you care a lot about Android, because you ignored all the billboards that Samsung put up in your hometown. And because you care about Android, you’re really anal about what version number is in your phone’s About screen, regardless if whether or not that impacts your experience with the device.

We’ll be having this same conversation once Android 4.4 lands next month. Just you wait.
