Yesterday, we posted some screenshots and information about the changes that HTC has made in the Android 4.2.2 update for the One. Now, less than 24 hours later, two of the most popular custom ROMs for the device have been updated to be re-based on a leaked Android 4.2.2 RUU.
The custom ROMs contain all the changes that were leaked yesterday including battery percentage icon, Android Daydream, Quick Settings, the ability to map the menu key to home button and improved BlinkFeed with Instagram and LinkedIn integration. There are some under the hood bug fixes along with improvements to camera performance, and thermal improvements. Interestingly, the leaked RUU also contains HTC Location, which will provide One users with free offline navigation.
If you cannot wait for HTC to roll out the official update for your phone, you can manually install one of the custom ROMs to enjoy Android 4.2.2 on your device. Keep in mind that Android 4.2.2 changes the file structure, so you will need to shift all your data inside the the sdcard/0/ folder on your One before or after flashing the update.
It is not yet confirmed if the leaked RUU will be the final OTA update as well. Users who have already flashed the custom ROM do not report any bugs, except for the haptic feedback working intermittently.
