Want to own a phone with a Snapdragon 800 processor inside, 2 GB of RAM, and the one of the best cameras on the market? Well, you’re going to have to put up with a screen that measures a minimum of 5.0 inches on the diagonal. That’s not in the case in Japan, where Sony launched a phone last month called the Z1F. It’s essentially the flagship Z1, but with the 5.0 inch 1080p panel replaced for a 4.3 inch 720p unit. The question on everyone’s mind: Will this device ship outside of Sony’s home country?
Yesterday, Sony China accidentally put a phone on their website called the Z1s. It’s the Z1F we’re all familiar with, just with a different name, and meant for a different market. My hypothesis was that this was a sign Sony’s 4.3 inch little monster would soon land on store shelves all over the world. Today, there’s more evidence to support this theory. Amazon UK has a Sony Xperia Z1s case on their website that starts shipping on November 26th.
Does this mean we’ll get a formal Z1s device launch at some point in the next two weeks? I certainly hope so, because a device with flagship specs that’s easily pocketable would be a super hot seller this holiday shopping season.
What do you think, would you give up a 1080p screen to go smaller?
