When the Fire Phone from Amazon was first introduced, the initial price tag sent shockwaves through the wireless industry. Ever since, the device has seen price drops off-and-on.

Amazon is back at it again with another price drop for their first smartphone, with a limited time promotion that sees the device dropped to only $189.00. Normally the Fire Phone, in its unlocked form, goes for $449.00 from Amazon directly, so this marks a savings of $260.00. For that lower price tag, the Amazon Fire phone still features the 4.7-inch HD display, the same quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz, and the year’s length subscription to Amazon Prime for good measure. There’s also the 13-megapixel camera on the back, and proprietary features like Mayday, Firefly and Dynamic Perspective.

The Fire Phone is a capable device with a lot of Amazon’s custom software on there, but for a device that’s under the $200 mark, it’s certainly worth a second look. Do you plan on taking advantage of the deal?
