Amazon has finally managed to get rid of its inventory of the Fire Phone. Launched in June 2014, the Fire Phone was a massive failure for the company that costed it $170 million in write-off costs.

The Fire Phone is listed as “currently unavailable” on Amazon, and also notes that it is not known “when or if this item will be back in stock.”

A spokeswoman from the company confirmed to GeekWire that it sold out its inventory of the Fire Phone in the United States and globally at the end of August.

The Fire Phone initially launched for $199 on a two-year contract on AT&T, but its failure forced Amazon to drop its price to only $199 without a contract within four months of its launch. Sadly, even after dropping its price to such low levels, the Fire Phone hardly found any takers and it took Amazon nearly a year since then to get rid of the inventory of the handset.

At the beginning of this year, Amazon had even started bundling 1-year of Amazon Prime subscription for free with every Fire Phone.
