Remember our handy tip to end a phone call on any Android device by pressing the power button? As it turns out, on the Galaxy S5, there are multiple ways to receive and disconnect a phone call including voice commands and even waving your hand above its proximity sensor. We will list them all for you here.
Below are the three (!) options available on the S5 to answer an incoming call and how they fare in real life usage:
- Pressing the home key: it works well in day-to-day usage except for accidental presses while the phone is in your pocket.
- Using voice commands: You will need to say Answer or Reject to accept or decline the call, but incoming call vibration will be disabled when you enable this feature. However, the feature sparingly works and is more of an exercise in frustration so it’s better to avoid it.
- Waving hand over device: You will need to slowly wave your hand over the S5’s proximity sensor to pick up any call. The problem here is that if you are waving your hand over the proximity sensor, why not just pick up the phone and press the home button or swipe on the screen since you will have to pick up the phone eventually to talk to the caller.
You can find all these options under Answering and ending calls, located in Settings -> Accessibility.
Sadly, Samsung only offers one way to end the phone call on the Galaxy S5 — by pressing the power button. Considering how two out of the three ways to receive an incoming call are of little to no use, I doubt any S5 owner is going to complain about the lack of other options. Thankfully, you still have access to the conventional way of swiping on the screen to accept or reject a phone call.
