The Moto X Pure Edition is only a few months old right now, but Motorola has already started working on its successor — the Moto X (2016). Prolific leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer a.k.a @Onleaks has posted a photo of the back of the Moto X (2016), which is the first phone from the company that has not been designed with inputs from Google.
The leaked image of the Moto X (2016) shows a device that looks unlike any other device from the company. It sports a metallic chassis and what seems to be glass back along with a huge camera bump. The Moto dimple that many Moto owners have come to love is also missing and now there is only a flat Motorola logo on the handset.

Even worse, the photo shows the Moto X (2016) having a rear facing speaker, which goes against one of Moto’s key design strengths.
Interestingly, the camera hump on the back of this leaked Moto X (2016) is unusually large and is similar to the one found on the new Lumia handsets from Microsoft. Motorola greatly stepped up its game in the camera department this year, and it looks like the company is all set to take things to the next level next year.
While the new design of the Moto X (2016) looks good, Motorola shifting the speaker to the rear of the handset is a huge disappointment since the company played a huge role in making front facing speakers a commonplace in smartphones.
Now, keep in mind that the Moto X (2016) is still at least 8-9 months away from its official unveiling so it is entirely possible that the final design of the handset will completely change by then.
