As the number of dengue cases in the United States in the first half of 2024 surpasses all records in the last decade, the Bzigo Iris offers a high-tech mosquito detector powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
The smart detector promises to transform bedrooms and households into a mosquito-free zone with its capabilities. One of them is its easy setup that simply requires users to plug and power up the device, download the Bzigo app, and follow a few steps to use the product.
Weighing only 0.66 lbs, Bzigo Iris also leverages AI vision and algorithms to understand mosquito movement patterns and determine the insects’ resting location.
Upon spotting the mosquito, the smart detector immediately tracks the insect until it lands and then uses an eye-safe laser to pinpoint its position. Wherever the user may be, the product sends real-time notifications to the app so they know where to aim their swatter.
It is compatible with Android and iPhone and works around the clock—even in complete darkness, thanks to its infrared LEDs.
However, the Bzigo Iris does not actually kill mosquitoes. Humans are still responsible for that only with the help of a rechargeable electric swatter that comes in all product units. The swatter offers several features, including an extendable telescopic handle, a foldable rotating head, and a rechargeable battery with a USB port.
Another disadvantage of the product is its expensive price of $339, which is significantly higher compared to other mosquito solutions.
Despite that, Bzigo ensures that its product is not only high-tech but also safe. To minimize false alarms, the AI was trained to distinguish between mosquitoes and other tiny flying insects. Its Class-1 eye-safe laser is also danger-free to pets, babies, and children. In addition to that, the Bzigo Iris promotes sustainability and eco-friendliness by operating without chemicals, refills, and replacement parts.
