After months of beta testing, the team behind the popular Adblock Plus extension today released the final version of their Adblock browser on the Google Play Store.
Adblock started off as a browser plugin for Firefox and Chrome and gained millions of users — 400 million and counting — thanks to its ability to block ads on websites, thereby reducing their load time and saving data of its end users.
Besides blocking ads, the developers of Adblock Browser say that it will also decrease page load times, increase the battery life of your device, and reduce data usage. It will also reduce the risk of a malware infecting your Android device and block tracking cookies from tracking you.
Using ad blockers are not recommend as they will potentially rob online publications (including us!) from ad revenue, which is required to keep the show going. In the end though, you can always blacklist sites in Adblock browser that spam you with ads and whitelist others that serve you only the bare minimum amount of ads.
An iOS version of the browser was also released on the App Store today.
