Acer Predator 8

At its IFA conference today, Acer unveiled a range of ‘Predator’ branded devices, which includes a Predator 6 smartphone and the Predator 8 gaming tablet. Both devices are crazy powerful and have a unique design.

The Predator 6 smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X20 chip, which is a deca-core (that’s 10 cores) processor. Additionally, the handset comes with 4GB RAM, a 21MP rear camera, and four (!) front facing speakers to provide you with the very best audio experience while playing games. However, Acer did not really reveal the price or launch information of the handset, so it looks like the Predator 6 still might be a few months away from launch.

The company also unveiled the Predator 8, an 8.7mm thin tablet focused towards gamers. The device comes with an 8-inch Full HD display that has a 100 percent NTSC color gamut rating. The Predator 8 also features a very unique design and comes with four front-facing speakers with virtual surround support and “TacSense.” Under the hood, the tablet is powered by an Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor, 2GB RAM, and will be available 32/64GB storage variants with a microSD card slot.

Acer has partnered with Gameloft for the Predator 8 and the latter’s Asphalt 8 will take advantage of the TacSense technology in the tablet to deliver an immersive gaming experience.

Acer will start selling the Predator 8 from November 6 in the United States with a base price of $299. The tablet will be available exclusively through Newegg for the first couple of weeks, with its retail availability expanding after that. The tablet will also be making its way to Europe and China in October for €349 and ¥2499, respectively. Acer will also be offering a number of accessories for the Predator 8, including covers, carrying cases, and more.
