Acer has unveiled a trio of Android powered handsets for the European market — the Liquid Z220, Z520 and the Liquid Jade Z.
The first two Liquid branded handsets are towards the lower-end of the spectrum. Both smartphones packs in a 4-inch WVGA (800 * 480) resolution display, though the %20 comes with capacitive navigation keys instead of on-screen ones to provide more real screen estate. Under the hood, the smartphones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 processor, which is accompanied by 1GB of RAM.
While the Z220 packs in a 5MP rear camera, the Z520 comes with an 8MP one. The front facing camera on both handsets, however, is the same with 2MP resolution. The Z520 also comes with DTS Studio Sound speakers as well.
As for the software, both handsets are running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes with three different modes: Basic Mode, Easy Mode and Standard mode. The first one is meant for kids and only provides them with access to making calls and sending texts to a particular set of numbers. Easy Mode is meant for older people who only want to use the phone for basic features like calling, texting and checking the weather, while the Standard Mode is meant for normal users, who don’t need any kind of assistance.
The biggest and the most powerful handset of the bunch — the Liquid Jade Z — packs in a 64-bit MediaTek processor, a 13MP rear shooter with an impressive f/1.8 aperture, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The 7.9mm handset comes with a 5-inch Full HD IPS display that is protected by curved Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. The Zero Air Gap display technology will make sure that all the UI elements will float on the glass, and make for an easier reading experience through Acer’s Read Mode software feature. The handset also runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Acer’s UI and software features on top of it.
The Z220 and the Jade Z will be making their way to Europe from March itself for €89 and €199, respectively, with the Z520 coming to Europe in April for €109.
