Unlike all other Android handsets out there, the Nokia X only comes with a single back button for navigation. It lacks the usual Home and Menu/Recents app key that are present in nearly every other Android device out there.
Since the Nokia X is marketed towards the low-end segment, Nokia does not think that people will multi-task on their phone and thus wants to keep the UI as simple as possible. Either way, being Android, it is always just a matter of time before someone finds a workaround to the problem.
Read the steps below to find out how you can get the Recent App list on the Nokia X:
Step 1: The first thing that you need to do is install Nova launcher on the handset. The steps do not require root access and are pretty straight forward.
Step 2: Once you are using Nova Launcher, long press on the home screen and select Nova Actions. From the list that pops up, select the Recent Apps shortcut.
Step 3: You should now see a shortcut on your homescreen that will allow you to access the Recents app UI on the Nokia X. Make sure to periodically swipe away apps from the list to keep the phone’s RAM as free as possible.
