Rumors about Samsung working on a rugged and an ‘Active’ version of the Galaxy S5 have been floating around for quite sometime now. Today, a nearly 4 minute long video of the handset has surfaced online confirming its presence and showing off its rugged build quality.
Just like the Galaxy S4 Active, the S5 Active will also sport hardware navigation buttons and a design that looks inspired from the Galaxy S5. The back of the handset does not particularly look pretty with the bottom and top edges sticking out like a sore thumb.
The microUSB port on the handset is covered by a flap with the removable back sporting a rubber seal as well, to protect the handset’s internals under water. Apart from this, the S5 Active does not really pack anything surprising. The handset is expected to sport the same specs as the Galaxy S5 including a Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 16MP ISO-CELL camera.
The Galaxy S5 already has an IP67 certification, making it dust and water resistant, so it is surprising to see Samsung working on an Active version of the handset.
