Galaxy K Zoom

Samsung has just posted a new video promo of the Galaxy K Zoom, showing us a glimpse of what’s actually special with the device. The video is 2:31 long and talks about various aspects of the device, including something as fundamental as making calls.

The subject of the video is shown to be happy with what’s happening, as you would expect from a product video. Most of the features are predominantly about the camera though, which is no surprise considering that this is a standalone camera first and a phone later.

We can see the 10x optical zoom in action here, with a brief glimpse of the vivid colors output by the Super AMOLED HD display on the device. Apart from that, there’s nothing much to learn about the Galaxy K Zoom, aside from the wide range of software tricks that come included with the camera-phone hybrid.

Samsung’s latest point-and-shoot replacement device of the year is certainly a step ahead from its predecessor, the Galaxy S4 Zoom, both in terms of specs and actual functionality. Instead of packing sub-par hardware to cut costs, Samsung has ensured that the most important aspect, i.e. the camera, is not compromised.

The company has used a 20.7-megapixel sensor here, which is accompanied by a powerful Xenon flash right next to it, so it’s not your run of the mill smartphone camera, although the sensor size is the same as the Sony Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z2.

Camera aside, the Galaxy K Zoom also comes with a hexa-core Samsung Exynos 5260 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for added storage, Android 4.4.2 KitKat and a 2,430 mAh battery.
