The creator of Flappy Bird, Dong Nguyen, was expected to bring a newer and “less addictive” follow up to the game in August this year. He has now teased this new title via Twitter by posting a screenshot, showing it in all its retro goodness.
He said in his tweet – “I am making a new game. So people can forget about Flappy Bird for a while.” What we’re seeing here is a Mario-like player in what resembles a Flappy Bird environment, although there aren’t further details available on that.
Nguyen had reiterated in the past that the game would be focused on multiplayer, so we have that to look forward to. Maybe the only change with the game is the exclusion of that iconic bird, so we’re not sure if this will actually be less addictive compared to the predecessor.
Games like Rovio’s new Retry are based on Flappy Bird, although that particular alternative is only limited to iOS for now. So Nguyen will have some serious competition to face when this new game hits app hubs in August. Since the game is still a few months away from launch, we can hope to gather more details and screenshots along the way. Would you be interested in a game like this?
