If you have not already guessed it, water-resistant smartphones are going to be the trend this year. However, most people think that the dust and water-resistant feature in a phone is nothing short of a gimmick. Sony, who has been releasing high-end flagship devices with water-resistant designs since the last year, thinks otherwise and has posted an infographic that explains their benefits in the real world.
The infographic states some interesting tidbits like the fact that more than 250,000 people search on Google for information about water damaged phones. Another interesting information is that out of the 75% people who take their phones to the bathroom in the United Kingdom, 20% report water damage due to it accidentally falling in the toilet.
There are lots of other places where users are likely to carry their smartphones, like the Glastonbury festival, where there is at least an 88% chance of the rain falling once. A water-resistant phone in such cases will allow users to continue recording videos and clicking pictures without the fear of any damage.
In the end though, the infographic has been made to promote the IP58 certification of Sony’s Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet.
