The translation tool will allow users to automatically generate audio translations and captions from over 50 input languages into 29 languages. The artificial intelligence feature will create an authentic-sounding voice dub close to the original speaker’s voice.

“Vimeo’s AI-powered translation solution goes beyond simple transcription,” said Ashraf Alkarmi, Vimeo’s Chief Product Officer. “By using generative AI to maintain the original speaker’s authentic nuances and tone, we’re creating an innovative, truly seamless viewing experience for audiences in any language.”

Vimeo is set to innovate businesses’ communication with their global audiences, removing language barriers and delivering messages faster, whether internally or externally.

The enterprise’s AI solutions are enabling numerous companies to leverage video for business success.

With 32 offices around the world, being able to seamlessly translate our videos within the platform is a massive advantage,” said Rob Gilchrist, Director of Video Production & Strategy at Ivanti.

These solutions enhance marketing ROI by converting video content into interactive experiences that boost engagement and conversion rates, improve customer support with AI tools that address product or service inquiries, and increase productivity, Additionally, they enhance accessibility with AI-generated captions and transcripts for all video content.

Vimeo’s Continued AI Integration and Market Impact

Vimeo is currently embracing AI to enhance its video platform with a few AI tools it introduced to optimize their video production process, including auto-generated highlight reels, summaries of videos, text-based video editing, and allowing users to ask the AI about the content of the video.

The company has been investing heavily in AI since its acquisition of the AI video creation service, Magistro, in 2019. Vimeo’s enterprise segment has seen impressive growth, with a 60% increase in revenue over its first quarter of 2024, according to a recent quarterly earnings report.

At the backdrop of Vimeo’s announcement, other tech giants are rushing to rapidly integrate AI into their products.

YouTube has enabled multiple third-party AI dubbing apps to be used in its YouTube Studio, while Adobe is already developing one. As the demand for remote communication rises, Vimeo’s emphasis on AI integration could make it a strong rival in the race for the video market as demand for remote communication increases.
