Now that Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Tab 3, it’s time to start thinking about the rest of their tablet portfolio. According to a leak on SamMobile, the company has three new major products in the pipeline.
The first one is called the “Galaxy Tab 8.0”. As the name suggests, it’ll have an 8 inch screen, but what makes it special is that it’ll use AMOLED technology and it’ll do FullHD (1920 x 1080 pixels). As for the guts, you can expect a quad core ARM Cortex A9 Exynos 4412, no word on RAM, and a 5 megapixel camera. I’m a bit worried about that chip since it has to drive such a high resolution panel, but maybe Samsung knows something I don’t.
The second is called the “Samsung Galaxy Tab 11”. Again, the name gives away the screen size. It’ll have a Super PLS TFT panel of an unknown resolution, dual core ARM Cortex A15 processor (Exynos 5250?), and an 8 megapixel camera.
The third tablet is a variant of the second tablet, it’s the Nexus 11. Same device, but with the octo-core Exynos found in the GS4. Apparently Samsung is waiting for Google’s approval before the project goes ahead. That makes me think Samsung is happy with how the market reacted towards the Nexus 10, though sales numbers have yet to be revealed.
Should you believe any of this? This is SamMobile, and they’re normally on the money. So I say yes, but as always, don’t get too bent out of shape if something he says is incorrect.
