At the beginning of this month, Koush released AllCast on the Play Store as a closed beta. After a couple of weeks of testing, taking bug reports, squashing them and fixing the loose ends, the developer has made the app available to all on the Play Store.
If you missed it somehow — AllCast will allow you to cast local content from your Android device to just about anything — an Xbox/PS3, Roku, DLNA capable TV and more. The app does not require root access and works on all Android devices running Ice Cream Sandwich or higher.
The only missing chunk in its feature list is Chromecast, but that is more of Google’s fault than Koush’s. He had hoped that Google would release the final SDK of Chromecast during its Chromecast hackathon event, but that never happened. The SDK is now expected to land sometime early next year.
The application is free to download but has ads and other limitations. The full version can be unlocked via an IAP of $4.99.
