While Google will not be bringing the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy Nexus, that has not stopped the developers over at XDA to work their magic up.
Two developers have released an Android 4.4 KitKat based ROM for the Galaxy Nexus. Since Galaxy Nexus is not officially supported in AOSP now, the ROMs have a few issues, which can be a deal breaker for many.
These include some graphical glitches, sub-par performance and overall general system instability. However, if you own a Galaxy Nexus and really want to try out KitKat, these ROMs are going be your best bet. Keep in mind that none of these ROMs will work with the Verizon variant of the Galaxy Nexus.
The ROMs are currently in alpha, but with time, the developers will work out the kinks and the device should get a stable enough KitKat ROM soon.
