The first phone that bakes in ’s Tango augmented reality technology is finally up for sale, after a several-month delay.
The ab2 o is hard to miss, with a huge 6.4-inch screen to showcase all of those augmented reality apps. yfair, for example, wants to use it to help you find out just exactly how that new end table will look next to the couch. The company’s yfairView app is now in the ay Store.

The phone will cost $499 has a solid set of specs. The rear-facing camera, particularly important for Tango use, is 16 megapixels. It also has an infrared depth-sensor motion-tracking sensor to aid with augmented reality. The ab2 o also includes 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 4050 mAh battery, a mid-range Snapdragon 652 processor.
You can pre-order the phone right now from novo, although shipping is scheduled for December. It’s also going to be available in we’s stores, no doubt with some type of display to try wow potential buyers with all those Tango features.
y this matters: took the “project” tag off Tango, which means the company is serious about seeing this technology get out there. Augmented reality is a bit more accessible than virtual reality since you don’t have to slap on headgear, but it remains to be seen if the technology will go mainstream.
