The latest piece of inspiration is a new feature for Facebook Messenger called Instant Video. It allows you to host a video chat inside of an existing chat conversation.
This way, if you want to show off what you’re doing or just desire a more personal moment you don’t have to exit the chat launch a separate video call.
The feature is rather similar to a capability found in Snapchat. This move by Facebook comes recently after Facebook-owned Instagram essentially built its own version of Snapchat inside of its social network, even calling it Instagram Stories.

To make it happen, you tap a video icon on the right side of the app, video will instantly pop up on the recipient’s end. The sound is off by default, which could help avoid some awkward moments. You have to be inside of a chat to start one of these instant videos, otherwise you’ll just need to make a stard video call if you want to talk.
Both ends of your conversation will need to have the latest version of Messenger from the App Store or ay.
The impact on you: This video feature could make for a convenient way to instantly start a video chat without the need to leave your text conversation. It’s seamless with an existing application in a way that Duo isn’t, it ought to make other competing services consider ways to better integrate all their messaging offerings.
