A pair of Android tablets are climbing the update mountain to the peak of Android 5.1. They’re the highlight in a slower-than-usual week for Android devices, especially with the first-generation AT&T Moto X pushed back to a holding pattern.

Dell

Venue 8 7000: Dell stuck pretty close to stock Android with its ultra-thin tablet. The Android 5.1 update keeps that aesthetic, brings all those necessary bug fixes performance improvements. Head to the update menu to trigger the download.

Nvidia

Shield rtable: It’s a big jump with this update, going from Android 4.4 all the way to 5.1. The Nvidia release notes say you’ll also get Chromecast support the latest version of Twitch. 

AT&T

Galaxy Note 4: No, unfortunately it’s not the jump to Android 5.1 you’ve been waiting for. However, the AT&T update includes “ Security tches,” removes Softcard, (hopefully) improves performance. It’s a 142MB update, so AT&T requires you download it via -Fi.

Moto X (2013): Motorola has put the kibosh on this update, which was bringing Android 5.1 to Motorola’s original flagship. According to Motorola’s David Schuster, a small number reported disappearing contacts with the rather terrible AT&T address book. Unfortunately, that means you’ll have to wait longer if you didn’t grab the update already.
