knew something was amiss. ’ve been testing the tch Urbane 2nd ition for the last week, its performance has been unreliable. Now, citing a “hardware issue,” is halting sales of the watch, which launched via AT&T last week, was primed to go sale via Verizon tomorrow.
explains:
“te in the quality assurance process for the tch Urbane 2nd ition E, our engineers were made aware of a hardware issue which affects the day-to-day functionality of the device. After further investigation, the decision was made to cancel the rollout of the Urbane 2nd ition E due to the complicated nature of the issue.
“ether the device will be available in the future will be decided at a later time. For now, our top priority is to ensure that only products that meet our very specific quality stards are available for purchase. apologize for this inconvenience.”
The botched rollout is an ignominious development for the first Android ar watch to feature a SIM card for voice calls data service directly on the watch. hasn’t yet told us what the hardware problem is, but during testing I’ve found problems with -Fi E performance. In short: Now voice comms don’t work reliably unless the Urbane 2nd ition E is tethered to my phone.
You can read all about my problems with the watch here.
I’ll update this story if when sheds more light on the issue. 9to5 reports AT&T is offering refunds exchanges for the Urbane 2nd ition E. So there’s that.
