A batch of Sony’s Xperia phones tablets are getting their llipop delivery. Sony hasn’t had a great round of news lately (such as the delay of its Z4 launch), but fortunately that hasn’t stopped them from dishing out the newest version of Android.

It’s part of our weekly roundup of major software updates for the biggest devices, including phones tablets on U.S. carriers, unlocked phones, even wearables. Making sure your device is running the latest available software is a good housekeeping practice, ensuring you have the latest features with fewer bugs gaping security holes.

Sony

Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet, Z2, Z2 Tablet: Sony announced on its official blog that llipop is on its way for this batch of phones tablets. The company is championing the key features we’ve discussed in our Android llipop review, such as the new Material Design look, better notifications, multi-account options.

Because Sony says it’s “starting” the update rollout, you may need to be patient before it hits your device. But at least you’ve heard it from the mother ship that the update is on the way.

T-Mobile

Nexus 6: Android 5.1 is on its way to your giant Nexus. T-Mobile’s software updates page confirms the newest update to llipop is coming with HD Voice Voice Over E support. You’ll need to be on -Fi in order to download the 409MB software package. Unfortunately -Fi calling isn’t supported yet, though T-Mobile says it’s still being tested.

HTC

One M7: It’s a mixed bag of news for the tried–true original HTC One. The Twitter-happy HTC exec Mo Versi says the ay ition of the device will be getting Android 5.1, but the Sense-skinned M7 is out of luck. So if you’re still holding on to one of the carrier locked versions it could be time to look around for an update, especially with the HTC One M9 launching soon.
