The Vu brand is probably not one you’re very familiar with, so let me refresh your memory. When Samsung launched the first generation Galaxy Note way back in 2011, LG’s counterattack was a smartphone with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Yes, you read that right, LG created what amounts to an iPad that can (barely) fit in your pocket. The first Vu tanked so badly that the Vu 2 came out shortly thereafter, though I doubt anyone can tell you the difference between the two devices.
Now that the Note 3 is going to go on sale in a little over a week, you know what this means, right? It’s LG’s time to introduce yet another Vu. According to the Korean trade publication ETNews, this new Vu will be unveiled and on store shelves by the end of this month. It’ll have the same silly 4:3 aspect ratio screen as the first two Vus, but the display is said to be an even larger 5.2 inches.
As for the guts, a Snapdragon 800 is expected because it has LTE-A compatibility, but other than that, there isn’t a lot known. The Vu 3 will supposedly cost less than the Note 3, which is great, but an exact price point hasn’t been suggested, and more importantly, we don’t know what LG plans on doing to reach that reduced point.
