Why trust Greenbot
Have a Nexus 7? You may want to pick it up right now and tap the “software update” over and over again until your finger falls off. According to Android Police, there’s a new update available called JSS15R. It weighs in at a hair under 10 megabytes, and no seems to have the slightest clue what it does, but hey, it’s better to be on the latest version of the software than to not be, right?
There’s one catch to all this, and that’s the update is only available for people who own the WiFi version of the Nexus 7. That’s probably a majority of folks since the LTE enabled Nexus 7 came out just a few short weeks ago. That’s the tablet that I personally want to buy when I’m in the states next month, and I can’t imagine anything coming out during the next few weeks to change my mind except for maybe the Nexus 5.
While I’m on the subject of the Nexus tablet, do you guys think it ruins the ability for other companies to compete? Say you’re Samsung. You obviously want to make money, but how do you sell a tablet in the United States for $229 that has anywhere near the same specs as the Nexus 7? I suppose the only viable competitor is Apple, but people buy iPads for different reasons.
