Sony is going to hold a press conference today in Berlin at 10:00 New York time, which is something like 14:00 London time. Anyway, everyone pretty much knows what they company is going to announce: a brand new flagship phone called the Z1, and two “Smart Lens” phone accessories. Unfortunately for Sony, the Xperia Z1 press release has just leaked, along with the first commercial for these so call “Smart Lens” devices.
So have either of these leaked given us any new information? Not really, but let me recap the details for you in case you haven’t been on top of the Sony rumor scene. First, the Z1. It’s going to have a 5 inch 1080p display, massive 3,000 mAh battery, 20.7 megapixel camera, and a Snapdragon 800 under the hood that’s paired up with 2 GB of RAM. There’s no mention of 4K video recording, however, which I thought would be in there.

And as for these two “Smart Lens” thing, watch the video above and take a second to form a thought about them. Done? Good. They’re basically cameras that don’t have screens that you bolt to the back of your phone because your phone’s camera isn’t as good as a professional camera. Weird concept, I know, and I’m eager to see how Sony markets these products, prices these products, and what tech reviewers say about them.
