Both Sony and Samsung are going to be holding press conferences in Berlin tomorrow to announce their latest widgets. Sony will be unveiling the Z1, a refresh of the Z that was launched at the beginning of 2013. Rumors say the Z1 will have a Snapdragon 800 processor inside, a massive 3,000 mAh battery, and a 20 megapixel camera. Samsung on the other hand, they’re going to announce a 5.7 inch phablet, also with a Snapdragon 800 inside, but with a more conventional 13 MP shooter.

Here’s where things get crazy: Samsung is also rumored to be announcing a smartwatch called the Galaxy Gear tomorrow. We’ll know more about it soon, but apparently Sony’s move to counter-attack the Gear is to bundle their own smartwatch for free with the purchase of a Z1. This information comes from a leaked add that was spotted by the Xperia Blog, and as far as I can tell it’s a UK only promo, but that doesn’t mean Sony isn’t thinking of expanding this offer to more countries.
