Google Pixel3 a leak

News and information about Google’s next smartphones has surfaced intermittently over the last few months. As is par for the course, those leaks and rumors have circulated from third-party sources. But this time Google is getting in on the fun ahead of any kind of official announcement.

Courtesy of Google itself, by way of the Google Play Developer Console, we have confirmation that Google is working on a pair of new smartphones. Codenamed the “sargo” and “bonito”, these are the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, respectively. Reddit user “ElegyD” had the initial look at the information, noting that the Pixel 3a will have 4GB of RAM and a display with a resolution of 2220×1080.

The other handset, the codenamed “bonito”, will also feature 4GB of RAM, but it’s display resolution will be 2160×1080. The report indicates that the Pixel 3a’s display will measure in at 5.6 inches, while the Pixel 3a XL’s display could measure in at 6 inches. Both screens should be OLED.

Other specs may include a 12-megapixel camera on the back, 3000mAh battery, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor under the hood.

This latest report also seems to nail down that Google is planning on launching the two new smartphones sometime soon, as “PIXEL_2019_MIDYEAR_EXPERIENCE” is listed under “System Features” in the developer console. Before today there were rumors that Verizon would be the sole carrier of choice for both handsets, and that they would arrive sometime in the spring.
