Redmi Note 7 Pro

Xiaomi today launched the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro in India. The release comes just a few months after the company had unveiled the Redmi Note 6 Pro.

With its Redmi Note 7 series, Xiaomi is going back to its dual model strategy. The Redmi Note 7 has the same design as its Pro sibling but comes with slightly weaker internals and a less capable rear camera. However, its the Redmi Note 7 Pro which steals the limelight.

Redmi Note 7 Pro

The Redmi Note 7 Pro made its global debut at the event. Carrying a massive 48MP rear camera and a brand new ‘Aura Design’ featuring 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5 panels at the rear and front, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is a massive step up in every department from previous Redmi Note devices.

At the front, there’s a 6.3-inch Dot Notch 19.5:9 aspect ratio display — a fancy term for water drop notch — with 450 nit brightness and FHD+ resolution. Xiaomi has also managed to reduce the side bezels to ensure it is able to fit a bigger display on the Redmi Note 7 Pro without increasing the overall dimensions of the device by much. Other specs of the display include Sunlight display and Reading mode which helps improve the reading experience depending on the ambient lighting and conditions.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro will be available in Neptune Blue and Nebula Red colors with a gradient finish. There’s also Space Black color for folks who prefer a traditional color.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 675 chip based on the 11nm FinFET fab. Its an octa-core chip packing 2x Qualcomm’s Kryo 460 cores running at 2GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.7GHz. There’s also an Adreno 612 GPU for impressive gaming performance. The powerful chip allows the Redmi Note 7 Pro to record videos in 4K resolution as well.

Other specs include up to 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a hybrid microSD card slot.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie which has been further optimized for improved performance. The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that Xiaomi claims is good enough to offer two-day of battery life. There’s also Quick Charge 4.0 support so you can charge the Redmi Note 7 Pro in as less time as possible.

The highlight of the Redmi Note 7 Pro is the dual-camera setup at the rear. This comprises of a 48MP rear camera and a 5MP depth sensor. The 48MP sensor is Sony’s IMX586 sensor. The 1/2″ sensor is also found on the likes of the Honor View 20 and even on Xiaomi’s recently unveiled flagship, the Mi 9. This is paired with an f/1.79 aperture.

By default, the Redmi Note 7 Pro will take photos in 12MP resolution using 4-in-1 pixel binning. There’s also Night Mode on the Redmi Note 7 Pro which helps the phone capture usable photos in extremely low-light conditions.

There’s a 13MP camera at the front featuring portrait selfie, AI beautify, Studio Lighting selfie, and more.
