Samsung is still not giving up on Android tablets. The company today unveiled the Galaxy Tab S5e. The highlight of the tablet is the 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display (2560 x 1600) and thin and light design. Plus, it is also Samsung’s first device to come with Bixby 2.0.

The Galaxy Tab S5e is Samsung’s thinnest and lightest tablet yet, with a 5.5mm thin chassis and weight of just 400gms. That makes it lighter and thinner than the 2018 11-inch iPad Pro which is 5.9mm thick and 468gms heavy.

The $400 price tag decidedly makes it a mid-range tablet. And while the display and design might not make it obvious, the specs do. The Galaxy Tab S5e is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 670 chipset. This makes the tablet good enough for basic tasks and content consumption, but heavy gaming is out of the question.

Other specs include 4/6GB RAM, 64/128GB storage, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, fingerprint scanner, face unlock, up to 14.5 hours of battery life with fast charging support, AKG-tuned quad surround stereo speakers and more. At the rear, there’s a 13MP shooter while an 8MP shooter is located at the front.

On the software front, the tablet runs on Android 9.0 Pie. It comes with Bixby 2.0 and DeX which allows it to act as a full blown desktop when connected to an external monitor + keyboard/mouse.

The Galaxy Tab S5e will launch in Q2 2019 for $400. The LTE variant will carry a higher price tag. Samsung will also launch a 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant of the tablet. It will be available in black, grey, and a limited edition gold color.
