Rumors have been swirling of another Pixel 3 variant coming down the pike, along with plenty of renders and photos of the upcoming devices.
If the rumor mill is accurate, then Google is planning on launching the “Pixel 3 Lite” and “Pixel 3 XL Lite” at some point in the early part of 2019. And based on the latest report, we may already know the model numbers for both handsets before their launch. According to a report by MySmartPrice, the model number for the Pixel 3 Lite (codenamed Bonito) will be G020B. Meanwhile, the Pixel 3 XL Lite (codenamed Sargo) will have a model number of G020F.
The standard Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL variants have model numbers G013A and G013C, respectively. It’s possible that the model numbers could be a hint that something will change with the public branding of these handsets, though. The general assumption up to this point has been that Google would keep the Pixel 3 branding for these two new handsets, but that’s certainly not guaranteed.
As far as rumored specs are concerned, the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite are said to feature 4GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor. The two handsets are also said to feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, which would be a welcomed change for some consumers who are missing that particular port on the flagship models. The Pixel 3 Lite is said to feature a 2915mAh battery, and both devices are said to boast a 12MP camera on the back.
The new report also says that Google is planning on launching the handsets in India “soon”, but no definitive dates are circled on the calendar just yet. Another interesting aspect of these devices will be the price point and availability. If either one of these handsets arrive in your neck of the woods, will you pick one up?
