HTC has just sent the Taiwanese publication ePrice an invitation to a press event on September 2nd where the company is going to unveil the Limited Edition Hello Kitty version of the Butterfly s. What exactly is a Butterfly s? It’s a 5 inch version of the HTC One, minus the pretty metal body, and with a monstrous 3,200 mAh battery inside. The processor inside is also clocked higher at 1.9 GHz, which is great, but the 4 megapixel UltraPixel in the Butterfly’s camera loses optical image stabilization, which is a bummer.
Is this the first time Hello Kitty has partnered with a brand to release a special edition phone? Nope. Samsung released a Hello Kitty variant of the Galaxy Y a year or so ago. The internet didn’t pay any attention to it however, because let’s face it, the Galaxy Y is a 99 Euro phone with specs that make most nerds cry.
How many Hello Kitty Butterfly s units will be made? There’s some conflicting information being passed around the internets. Some sites say it’ll be a few tens of thousands of units, other sites say they’ll be far more. Considering that September 2nd is less than a week away, it shouldn’t take long for us to find the truth.
