It has been almost a year since Razer officially launched the Razer Phone, the company’s first smartphone. And apparently it was successful enough for the company to be considering a sequel.
In fact, as was reported by 9to5Google, the company was so pleased with the first smartphone’s “limited run” success that it is already in the process of working on the original phone’s successor. However, that bit of news was only a smart part of the company’s most recent quarterly earnings report, so we don’t have much else to go on. The company isn’t ready to confirm specs, a price point, or a release date just yet.
It doesn’t sound like Razer is going to be sticking with a yearly refresh cycle, either, unless they’ve got a surprise waiting in the wings for just a couple of months from now.
Razer saying that the original Razer Phone was launched in a “limited run” is certainly interesting as well, considering it didn’t sound like that was the case when the phone was announced and launched last year. But if that is indeed the case, maybe the company is planning on expanding availability for the handset’s sequel, whenever that phone launches.
Either way, a Razer Phone 2 is in the works. If you own the original, are you happy enough with the handset to consider upgrading to the sequel?
