The Mi Mix 3, the upcoming flagship smartphone from Xiaomi, has just made its first official appearance on Twitter.
The image of the handset was published not by a serial leaker, but instead by Donovan Sung, Xiaomi’s Director of Product Management and global spokesperson. While Sung was more than willing to show off the smartphone itself, he was not forthcoming about any information regarding the handset. So while we know what it looks like, we still don’t have an official word on what the next flagship phone from Xiaomi will bring to the table in terms of specs.
Still, there’s quite a lot to unpack in just the single image. We can obviously see that the phone has minimized bezels at the top, bottom, and along the sides. There is no chin or notch, either. Which means Xiaomi had to figure out a way to implement a front-facing camera. In this case, it looks like the Mi Mix 3 will boast a pop-out camera, similar to what we’ve seen in the Oppo Find X.
We can only see the front of the handset, so we don’t know if the rear cameras will also be part of the pop-out mechanism, or if Xiaomi will have them more easily accessible on the back of the phone. We don’t know if there’s a fingerprint reader embedded in the display or on the back panel, either.
As far as the rumor mill is concerned, the Mi Mix 3 will boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood, up to 8GB of RAM, and various storage options to choose from. The rumors have also stated that Xiaomi will unveil the Mi Mix 3 on September 15, which would certainly line up with a public launch in October, as Sung mentioned in the tweet.
So, here’s the Mi Mix 3. What do yo think?
