Up to this point, the Pixel 3 XL has leaked out quite a bit, with the Pixel 3 only getting a small amount of the attention ahead of both handsets being announced later this year.

Today, as part of a larger report on what Apple is going to announce next month, Bloomberg nonchalantly dropped a supposed announcement date for Google’s next flagship smartphones. According to the publication, Google will “debut new Pixel phones on Oct. 9 at a media event in New York City”. That isn’t the first time that we’ve heard Google is planning an October announcement for both handsets, and it would certainly line up with the company’s past event timing.

The rumor mill has been readily available for pre-announcement information. That includes the fact that we can expect wireless charging on both handsets later this year, as Google is finally adapting a glass back for each. The company will apparently be sticking with a single camera setup on the back of each device, while there will apparently be a pair of front-facing cameras in the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL that will allow for a new facial recognition system, and a new “Super Selfies” feature.

The Pixel 3 XL is expected to launch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood (a feature that will probably be shared with the Pixel 3), and 4GB of RAM. It will probably not boast a 3.5mm headphone jack this year, either, but it will have a USB-C port for charging.
