Right before the OnePlus 6 launched, there were reports of the next flagship handset from OnePlus making its way to the retail stores of a carrier in the United States. However, that did not happen as the OnePlus 6 continues to be sold unlocked in the United States without any carrier backing.
Now, as per a report from CNet, the OnePlus 6T will be the first phone sold in the United States with the backing of a carrier. The handset, which will launch in October, will be sold on T-Mobile’s network for a tentative price of $550. OnePlus will also continue selling the unlocked version of the OnePlus 6T in the United States that will work on both T-Mobile and AT&T’s network.
The T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 6T will be optimized for the carrier’s new 600Mhz band thereby promising better and faster coverage. While the deal between T-Mobile and OnePlus is finalized, the young company is still working on getting the “technical approval” from T-Mobile to sell the 6T for its network through its retail stores. Any delay in getting this approval could lead to a delay in the handset’s launch on T-Mobile’s network.
If OnePlus manages to get its handset on T-Mobile’s store, it could end up expanding its potential consumer base by a huge margin which could ultimately translate into more sales. The OnePlus 6 has already turned out to be the best selling OnePlus smartphone ever selling 1 million units in just 22 days. And with the OnePlus 6T making its way on T-Mobile’s network and retail stores, the handset is bound to do even better in terms of sales.
