Hot on the heels of Google announcing the release of Android 9.0 Pie for its Pixel devices, Essential has announced that it is also rolling out the latest version of Android to the PH-1. The Essential Phone might not have exactly topped the sales chart but the company has still ensured that it updates the device with the latest security update or Android version soon after Google.
Since the Essential Phone runs on stock Android, you will get to experience Android 9.0 Pie on the handset just like the way Google intended it to.
Android 9.0 Pie comes with a number of new features like the ability to markup screenshots, Adaptive Brightness and Battery which is powered by AI, revamped Quick Settings, improved notification shade, an updated Material Design, and more.

The Android Pie OTA update might not just up right away on your Essential Phone but it should make its way to your device within the next couple of weeks.
It is very rare to see OEMs roll out a major Android update to their device on the same day as Google rolls it out for its Pixel devices. Thus, Essential needs to be praised for its speedy software update schedule. The company has definitely set a benchmark in terms of quick Android OS updates which one can only hope that other Android OEMs sit up and take notice.
