Huawei’s sub-brand Honor today unveiled its latest flagship: the Honor 10. The handset has been unveiled in China, with a global unveiled scheduled for May 15 in London. The handset is based on the Huawei P20, though with some compromises to keep its price in check.

The Honor 10 comes with a 5.84-inch 19:9 aspect ratio display. Yes, there’s a notch just like on the P20, though it can be hidden if you are not fond of it. The fingerprint sensor is located at the bottom-bezel. Like previous Honor phones, the Honor 10 is also completely made of 2.5D glass, though it stands out in its primsa-like Mirage color finish which is similar to the Twilight color seen on the P20 Pro. The handset will be available in Mirage Purple, Mirage Blue, Black, and Grey colors.

The handset is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 970 chipset, and it packs 6GB RAM along with 64GB of storage space. There’s no microSD card slot, but Honor is offering a 128GB storage variant of the device as well. Other notable specs include a USB-C port, 3.5mm jack with a 32-bit DAC, Wi-Fi ac, LTE with dual-SIM connectivity, and a 3,400mAh battery with 4.5A fast charging technology.

The notch at the front houses a 24MP f/2.0 selfie shooter that uses AI to capture portrait photos. It is also used to offer face unlock on the handset. The dual-camera setup at the rear comprises of a 16MP f/1.8 aperture primary shooter and a 24MP monochrome sensor. The rear camera uses AI to automatically detect the scene and select an appropriate scene for it while shooting pictures.

On the software front, the Honor 10 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Emotion UI 8.1. The latest version of Emotion UI packs in a number of refinements and enhancements along with tweaks to improve app loading times.

Interestingly, the Honor 10 sits below the Honor View 10 in terms of pricing. Its pricing starts from CNY 2599 ($415) and goes all the way up to CNY 2999 ($480) for the top-end 6GB RAM/128GB variant. It is immediately available for pre-order on major e-commerce websites in China.
