mini

Not everyone wants a phone the size of their lunch, I totally understand that. Handset makers understand this too, which is why they create “mini” versions of their flagship phones. The Samsung GS4 mini and the HTC One mini are perfect evidence of that. Unfortunately, going smaller usually means getting stuck with a slower processor and less RAM. Sony might be changing that.

According to a member of the online forum Esato that goes by the handle “randomuser”, Sony is going to release a smaller version of their Honami flagship phone that has pretty much the exact same specs as its bigger brother, except it’s going to have a smaller 4.3 inch 720p screen and subsequently a smaller (2,400 mAh) battery.

For those who haven’t heard of Honami, that’s the codename for the phone Sony intends to announce on September 4th in Berlin. It’ll have a 5.0 inch 1080p screen, Snapdragon 800, 2 GB of RAM, and a 20 megapixel camera. Apparently those exact same internals will be in the Honami mini.

Should you be excited? If you’re into smaller phones, absolutely!
