Samsung has already confirmed that it will be unveiling the Galaxy S9 on February 25th at Barcelona, Spain. Now, a new report from South Korea claims that the handset will go up for pre-order in the country soon after that.
After its unveiling on February 25, Samsung will start accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus in South Korea from March 2. The pre-order period will last from March 2-8, with all major carriers accepting pre-orders for the handset. With such a short pre-order period, the Galaxy S9 will likely go on sale in South Korea around March 14. If true, this will be faster than any of the previous iterations of the handset, especially the Galaxy S8 which saw a delayed launch thanks to the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. However, Samsung has usually started accepting pre-orders for its flagship Galaxy S handset right from the very next day after announcing it.
The report also claims that the price of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will be slightly higher than their predecessor. The Galaxy S9 is expected to cost anywhere between $890 to $930 in South Korea, while the Galaxy S8 sold for around $875 in the country.
Samsung will be offering some attractive pre-order offers for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus in South Korea. This could possibly include wireless AKG headphones, the DeX dock, or a wireless charger. It hopes to make up for the increased price of the device with attractive pre-order bundles.
The Galaxy S9 will sport a single camera setup while the Galaxy S9 Plus will come with a dual-camera setup at its rear. Both phones will also switch to a vertically placed camera and fingerprint sensor location at the rear for improved ergonomics.
