Hot on the heels of Samsung launching an Oreo beta testing program for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, LG has also launched an Oreo preview program for LG V30 owners. The only problem is that the program is limited to only South Korea for now.
If you are an LG V30 owner and live in South Korea, you can use the Quick Help app on the device to request the Oreo beta update for your device through the ‘LG OS Preview’ option. Once you join the preview program, you will get a software update which will bump your Android version to Oreo. On the bright side, the Oreo preview program is available for all LG V30 owners in South Korea irrespective of their carrier.
There is also a ‘Forum’ app where users can provide their feedback and report bugs about the bugs they discover in Oreo. LG expects to roll out the Oreo update for the V30 from December.
LG’s announcement had no mention of the G6, its flagship handset for the first half of 2017.
Android Oreo brings a number of new features like Picture-in-Picture, Autofill API, Notification Dots, Notification Channels, ability to snooze/pin notifications, Background limits, improved power management, and more. You can read more about all the new features in Android 8.0 Oreo here.
